Kindle, Air, iPhone?

So someone close to me is looking for a device to carry on a plane that will allow them to surf and send emails. Some small device to pass the time while waiting for a plane. The iPhone is certainly a candidate, the new Macbook Air is just awesome looking, can’t wait to touch it.

A friend of mine show me his new Amazon Kindle, which is actually pretty neat. It runs on the Sprint network and has all kinds of great functionality. The screen is extremely readable. Check out a video demonstration:

Open the lunchbox

I watched NCIS tonight which was about the billions of dollars misplaced timecapsulethat were supposed to go to Iraq. The backstory of a main character, Gibbs, was told by including a lunchbox time capsule his daughter buried years ago. Gibbs never opens the lunchbox to see what is inside during the episode, however after the show’s closing, CBS tell the audience to visit CBS.com to open it. Wow! What a great tie in from TV to the web.

As an aside, I finally finished the most recent William Gibson book, which was about the same topic - stolen Iraqi money.

Leopard - and Gibson

Upgraded my MacBook Pro to Leopard - it took a while. It is a nice upgrade but will take some time to get acquainted with. I am still reading the Gibson book - some books I can read in a day or a week, this one is taking forever…I can not recommend it at this point - I still think his writing is great, but the storytelling in this one is just not compelling.

Everyscape and Gibson

Wow - William Gibson’s new book is less hi-tech than any of his other books, however he has an interesting idea. WiFi enabled “art installations” that require a helmet of sorts to view the art. I am not exactly sure where he is going with the story but the writing style and ideas are always top notch. Interesting review at the Sun-Sentinel.

Saw a new product somewhat related - Everyscape. It is apparently the next Google Earth. Find a destination, zoom in, then go inside the building.

William Gibson or Macbook Pro

I was extremely excited to see a new Gibson novel on the shelves of the local book chain five days ago. However, I keep falling asleep on about page 6 each night I attempt to read it. It’s not his vivid writing style putting me to sleep because it is fantastic or the characters which seem interesting. It’s the fact that every night since I got my new Macbook Pro I have been installing software. Once you buy it you need to set it up!

Stix Trax

I love Rich Media Ads that are well done! This one from Kellogg is on Habbo Hotel. It is served by PointRoll. No idea who made it — but it is a lot of fun and encourages clever interaction with the brand. Give it a try!

Waiting on SHANGHAI

Ok. My new Apple Mac Book Pro has left Shanghai China according to Fedex. Looking forward to having a software installation party with my buddy. I still need to figure out my windows installation, probably do Windows XP Media Center in Parallels and Vista in Boot Camp. Now if I could just keep myself from checking Fedex 10 times a day…

Wikipedia is the most beneficial social experiements on the net. There is an entry for just about anything. Here are two links that I find extremely useful for working on social networks:
